The Democrats are trying to bribe people to vote for them by spending money the country doesn’t have. They know their spending is unsustainable but they don’t care because it will put them in office short term and a lot of them will be dead when America goes bankrupt. Medicare is purposely spending more on contested areas so that the Democrats can sway the vote to vote for big government instead of against. Just like the good old USSR central government is built on the back of cronyism! Is it a coincidence these $250 Donut Hole checks are getting ready to be sent out right before the election? “Medicare spends twice as much on similar patients in some parts of the country as in others. The average cost of a Medicare patient in Miami is $16,351; the average in Honolulu is $5,311. In the Bronx, N.Y., it’s $12,543. In Fargo, N.D., $5,738. The average Medicare patient undergoing end-of-life treatment spends 21.9 days in a Manhattan hospital. In Mason City, Iowa, he or she spends only 6.1 days. Maybe it’s unsurprising that treatment in rural towns costs less than in big cities, with all their high prices, varied populations, and urban woes. But there are also significant disparities in towns that are otherwise very similar. How do you explain the fact, for instance, that in Boulder, Colo., the average cost of Medicare treatment is $9,103, whereas an hour away in Fort Collins, Colo., the cost is $6,448?”

Gents Seiko Sportura Chronograph Stainless Steel

Beautiful. It catches the light well. Great band…it's pre-curved almost like a woman's bracelet and the latch & holes are slotted (unique). Eye-catching split-second hands whir like you've never seen before! Each watch hand perfectly aligns with every second and minute marking. However! It takes more than a casual glance to determine what time it is. The white hour and minute hands seem to blend into the rest of the many white indices. Your eye is immediately drawn to the chronograph's red second hand or the other red hand instead of to the white hands which tell the time. This is not a major issue. The chronograph is precise and has pause/unpause & lap functions. The small seconds sub-dial DOES stop so you can sync your watch to an atomic clock.

    Willis,

I'm not sure why it isn't clear to you, but the points of the article are:

    1. Fort Collins temperatures have risen strongly in correspondence to rapid growth of the city. Fort Collins has increased in size by 300% over the last few decades.
    2. Boulder temperatures have risen much less, and the city has grown much less. Boulder has grown less than 50% during that same time period.

You claim to be doing some sort of precise mathematics, but at the same time you chose to arbitrarily subtract about two degrees from all post-1941 Boulder temperatures, to try to prove your point.

The temperature readings are from internal electronics. Most clocks like that will give internal temps; some have the added feature of external (usually wireless) sensors for outside temps.

The "weather forecasts" are just based on the local barometric pressure and aren't particularly accurate. For instance, rising pressure = sunny, but that could also indicate a front moving through and some rain, or falling pressure = rain, but that could mean the front is passed and the skies are clearing.

Umm — transmit? They are designed to receive the US atomic clock broadcasts on shortwave (5, 10, 15, and 20 MHz from Ft. Collins, CO or Hawaii) and interpret the signals to reprogram the clock to the correct time once a day (usually 1 to 4 AM local time).

You may find that the one with weather also has a relative humidity sensor. If that would be useful where you live, then it might be a reason to choose it over the other.

I wear a Casio G-Shock. It's water-resist to 200M (that's much deeper than any body of water I'm getting in), solar powered (I guess, technically, it's “solar charged” and battery powered; battery shows full strength still after six year) and weighty. It also doubles as a self-defense weapon when my friends have tried to hit me (I probably always deserved it) and pulled my hand up to block and they hit my wrist. When knuckles connect to this watch people wince. It's silver with a metal band so it looks good with casual or dress clothes.

And it updates the time with the atomic clock. So no excuse to be later or not know the precise time.

My town just keeps on getting noticed:

    Today's [Fort Collins] Coloradoan (July 10, 2007):

“Fort Collins has another notable recognition to add to its list. Fast Company magazine recently named Fort Collins as one of the 30 Fastest Cities to Work, Live and Play. The list includes cities from all over the world that are leading the way in business and technology innovation. The newest designation ranks Fort Collins up with world business leaders such as Toronto, London and Shanghai. The magazine, based out of New York, defines a Fast City as one that “attracts fast companies … the most creative, smartest, effective and innovative…”
