I plan to buy a atomic wall clock in USA and send to my friend in Australia, but I don't know if the clock would work in Australia.
Does the signal used to synchronize the clock follow some international standard, so that a clock could be used internationaly in any countries that supply it?
The "atomic" clocks syncronize with the gps satellite system or aircraft nav beacons, so they should work as long as the signal isn't blocked, and you can set the correct time zone

Anyway, the situation is this. You're not comparing like with like. A sidereal day is shorter than a solar day by roughly four minutes.
