Digital Projection I was looking at showtimes for Saw V, and I saw that there was Saw V, and Saw V (Digital Projection)?
I was just wondering, what does it mean by Digital Projection?
I may be wrong, but I assume that it's the new projector that is used for films which are now provided on a hard drive, because of the digital switch-over. It's supposed to be better quality, however my local cinemas don't have them.

The corporate approved, USDA stamped,trust funded, internetz hogwash digital projections that masquerade as “art” should mark a weekend of mourning (and drinking, if you will) instead of the world fairsh fanfare found on every recycling corner. Just remember, all you wanna bes, this neighborhood was founded on flaunting the SYSTEM not bending over and licking it.Sincerely loose stool
Actually, sincere sarcastic questions are my fav questions. I’m sure there’s a lot of options being explored right now in many different corners of media. And it’s hard to transition to make from celluloid film to flash drives/portable terrabyte drives. My prediction is that eventually, within 10 years, a company that’s not Apple will streamline the process, storage, portability and reliability of digital filming. How that happens is beyond me. And in the end we live in a capitalistic world (mostly) so how most production companies go about the transformation will be about the bottom line. Greased palms always decide how things are done. Note: I doubt I’ll live to see the day when zero movies are shot on 35mm film. But I won’t be surprised if all movies are converted to Final Cut/Avid files for digital projection.
The Fade Away Girls bring to mind a more recent reference to Coles Philips work: the Victor and Rolf Autumn/Winter 2002-03 collection: LONG LIVE THE IMMATERIAL (BLUESCREEN). The Victor and Rolf clothing disappears on the models and becomes one with landscape/cityscape digital projections.

I wasted 7 dollars on it. I am pissed. It was funny, yeah, but it simply sucked, the entire game. Play Kingdom Hearts 2 or Devil May Cry. Freakin' atari noobs.

No it's not extra. Digital 3D is extra because they have to pass along the cost of the 3D glasses. But Up In The Air is not in 3D.
