lacrosse technology Looking for a decent, reasonably-priced indoor/outdoor thermometer?
Does anyone out here have any experience/suggestions regarding indoor/outdoor thermometer/weather stations?
I had a terrible experience with a LaCrosse (sp) technologies unit that I ended up throwing in the trash. I've heard some bad things about many of the Oregon Scientific offerings as well.
The only one that really caught my eye was the OS WeatherNow unit. I realize this isn't a thermometer, as it relies on the MSN direct service, but I know my wife would like the forecasting feature.
For now, at least, I'm not too jazzed about setting up anything other than an outdoor temp sensor. I'm willing to pay a bit for some quality. Some of the stuff I have seen is simply junk.
Any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.
I bought a indoor/outdoor thermometer a few years ago and it didn't work. I just prefer to get a thermometer to put outside. I bought one of those that are about 5 feet tall that stick in the ground, and works good. Just don't set it out in the sun, because in the summer time, the thermometer will read 120 degrees when it is only about 90. It is pretty sturdy too. We have had a few wind storms and it didn't blow down. It was leaning a little after the storm, but it didn't separate itself from the ground. One of my realitives also has one that you hook to the window, so you don't have to go outside to get the temperature. You just look out the window. That works very good too.
