You can name individual "skeptics", but their numbers are small.

There is a very powerful consensus on global warming in the scientific community. Proof:

No major scientific organization says global warming is natural. the American Institute of Petroleum Engineers did for a while, but changed after many of their members resigned rather than belong to an organization that denied the truth.

Very few scientific papers claim this is a natural thing.

You say that all your info comes from Senator Inhofe's site. What makes you believe such a clearly biased political source? He's the chief global warming denier (the term is justified in his case) in the Senate.

    The bottom line:

"The fact that the community overwhelmingly supports the consensus is evidenced by picking up any copy of Journal of Climate or similar, any scientific program at the meetings, or simply going to talk to scientists. I challenge you, if you think there is some un-reported division, show me the hundreds of abstracts that support your view – you won't be able to. You can argue whether the consensus is correct, or what it really implies, but you can't credibly argue it doesn't exist."

Try ChemDraw from cambridge software at – you can download a trial version. It is part of a larger suite called ChemOffice –

How does a non-chemist person such as myself know this? Well, as soon as I saw your question I went to http://www.versiontracker.com to see what there was on the cheap. I just typed in "molecule" and immediately it came up with ChemDoodle – 2.0.3, which is shareware. The descriptions reads as follows:
"ChemDoodle is a full featured 2D chemical drawing application that works on OSX, Linux, and Windows. In addition to being multi-platform, ChemDoodle also natively reads and writes many common file formats including ChemDraw's CDX and CDXML. ChemDoodle contains many smaller widget applications that perform many functions from SMILES interpretation to multiplet generation. ChemDoodle employs auto-updating so users always have access to the latest updates without re-installing."

Also found an older program called xdrawchem – 1.9.9 which is freeware, although it does date to 2005. Description reads as follows:
"XDrawChem is a 2-dimensional molecule drawing program for Unix operating systems. It is similar in functionality to other molecule drawing programs such as ChemDraw (TM, CambridgeSoft). It can read and write MDL Molfiles, and read ChemDraw text and binary files, to allow sharing between XDrawChem and other chemistry applications, and it can create images in popular formats like PNG, EPS and SVG. This package includes OpenBabel 2.0."

    Bookmark version tracker. Really.

I hope these help and that they are what you are looking for.

I use GNU/Linux because it offers me a plethora of software useful to me for my academic purposes (as well as fun). To put it in short, I get all the mathematical and scientific software required for my studies either preinstalled or readily installable from a CD (or internet) based package management system. Best of all, I have the freedom to dig through the source to make fixes and alterations to suit my needs, as long I redistribute my software under terms of the iicense when I have to give it elsewhere.

Add to this rock stability and the means to dig through to see what's happening under the hood, and you get much more than you bargained for.

Software Carpentry seems to be to try and give best practice teaching to make programming at least workmanlike.

That being said, how sophisticated does scientific code need to be? Most of the stuff I wrote as an engineering student simply cranked through a dataset and spat out files of output; although the code would probably have given a computer scientist hives (written in FORTRAN!), it worked well enough for my purposes.]]>
