Now, if -- as you often claim, in the fond hope of discrediting radiometric dating techniques which point to the Earth being billions of years old -- radioactive decay was not steady and predictable, then atomic clocks should keep lousy time.
But they don't; as you can prove to yourself by placing a radio-controlled clock next to a good pendulum clock.
So how do you reconcile the accuracy of atomic clocks with the supposed variability of radioactive decay rates?

It also doubles as a self-defense weapon when my friends have tried to hit me (I probably always deserved it) and pulled my hand up to block and they hit my wrist. When knuckles connect to this watch people wince. It’s silver with a metal band so it looks good with casual or dress clothes.And it updates the time with the atomic clock. So no excuse to be later or not know the precise time.

The temperature readings are from internal electronics. Most clocks like that will give internal temps; some have the added feature of external (usually wireless) sensors for outside temps.
The "weather forecasts" are just based on the local barometric pressure and aren't particularly accurate. For instance, rising pressure = sunny, but that could also indicate a front moving through and some rain, or falling pressure = rain, but that could mean the front is passed and the skies are clearing.
Umm — transmit? They are designed to receive the US atomic clock broadcasts on shortwave (5, 10, 15, and 20 MHz from Ft. Collins, CO or Hawaii) and interpret the signals to reprogram the clock to the correct time once a day (usually 1 to 4 AM local time).
You may find that the one with weather also has a relative humidity sensor. If that would be useful where you live, then it might be a reason to choose it over the other.
I don't see the difference between adding a leap second once in a while and adding a leap day every four years. I see it as a way of correcting the calendar for what's really happening, not as a way of measuring the rate of deceleration of earth's rotation.
Also, I agree that Mr Plait sounds like he is arguing with himself. I would probably not believe either one of him.
I do think that the effects of tidal locking will eventually slow the rotation of the earth – very gradually – but I'm not convinced that it can be measured in leap seconds.
I’m confused about “Relativity | making a killing in | GPS Devices” being on the list. Has this term been hijacked for some form of woo I haven’t heard of? If they are referring to Einstein’s relativity, it actually is used in GPS devices. The GPS satellites have their atomic clock frequency set to 10.22999999543 MHz before launch so that once in orbit our receivers will measure it as exactly 10.23000000000 MHz. The frequency shift is due to gravitational time dilation. Other relativistic compensations are also made.
Your 'radio controlled “atomic” clock' probably only synchronizes itself once a day, so for your purposes it's just a quartz clock; not that there's anything wrong with that.-Jonathan
