Let’s see, Americans invented bifocals, the cotton gin, the suspension bridge, refrigeration, Morse code, the wrench, the revolver, vulcanized rubber, the gas mask, the escalator, the vacuum cleaner, the motorcycle, fire hydrants, locomotive air brakes, the QWERTY keyboard, the dental drill, the cash register, the metal detector, the electric fan, solar panels, dissolvable pills/drugs, the fountain pen, photographic film, the skyscraper, the revolving door, the Ferris wheel, the remote control, the flashlight, the assembly line, air conditioning, the airplane (and autopilot), the electric traffic light, the bulldozer, the liquid fuel rocket, the iron lung, air traffic control, sunglasses, the electric guitar, FM communications, the Richter scale, fiberglass, Nylon, microwave ovens, chemotherapy, the transistor, the defibrillator, the mobile phone, the atomic clock, the credit card, the Polio vaccine, the Artificial Heart, CPR, the hard drive, the integrated circuit, GPS, the pill, the LED, the plasma and LCD display, heart transplants, bone marrow transplants, Kevlar, the compact disc, the lunar module, the laser printer, wireless networking, fiber optic cabling, the microprocessor, nearly every programming language, the Heimlich maneuver, the digital camera, Ethernet, the space shuttle, and of course, the Internet. And probably millions of other things you use daily. So, I wouldn’t say we’re overeducated in uselessness. What did your dumb, undereducated countrymen invent?

so-called atomic clocks actually run from an internal crystal timer. they incorporate a 60 KHz receiver that tunes a radio data signal broadcast from Ft Collins Colorado. The clock uses the data signal to correct its internal time keeping, so that it will stay in step with the reference. Because the data is digital, it can send info on leap seconds, savings time changes, UTC hour, day and year.

the only jamming you might be able to accomplish is to cause enough interference to block reception, but that usually is done only once a day, late at night when school is closed. When the clock misses an automatic update, it displays an error flag.

the old fashioned "IBM" school clocks were made to synchronize to the central controller, usually in the principals office. if you could trick the controller, all the school clocks would change in step.

Now you’re saying that gobblement workers can defy the hands of time???=============================================I simply said that THEIR clock might not have been synced with the clock OCFA referenced when they made the call. And again I ask, what did I “lie” about? I offered a piece of speculation, nothing more. It’s called looking at ALL the possibilities instead of focusing on only what supports your personal bias. I never said they weren’t in the parking lot 4 minutes before the end of their shift. But even if you assume that was the case, would you prefer that they use an atomic clock, starting blocks and a referee when going off-shift? Or are there some other nits you’d like to pick?

You have an atomic clock which means the clock sets itself at the right time by scanning for a signal from the company broadcasting the time. If the clock senses the wrong time displayed, it will search for the signal which is mostly clear at night and correct itself. Please comment or personal message me back for more info.

on further research, I only agree with one of your points. It turns out that I had it backwards – a drop in frequency is caused by the rise in demand (as opposed to raising the frequency to meet demand). But this still causes a discrepancy in timing.
